EF: Why the emphasis on youth involvement in drama?
BMS: Well,I find no better medium which allows for learning Krishna Consciousness. Since my role as a teacher is to educate vedic customs, thought etc.I find the reenacting of pastimes of the lord or dramatizing some idea which is Krishna conscious a full participatory experience.Everyone gets excited about a play. It pulls a community together. EF: So Maharaja when and how did you get involved with dramas?
BMS: I was first moved by a production,devotees in Brooklyn performed 'The Pandavas retire timely' I never had formal training but always had high interest in arts.Temple life can be very demanding.So the drama is a relaxation for me. EF:Where do you hope to go with Krishna Conscious theatre?
BMS: To keep on performing, especially directing.It is my dream to perform live dinner thetre for the public.And whichever temple I visit in my travels I would offer my services to pull together even a fairly spontaneous production.
